Problem Note 53324: A SAS® program that sends e-mail fails and returns a misleading error: "The SAS System stopped processing this step because of insufficient memory"
In SAS® 9.2 and later, if you use the SAS FILENAME e-mail engine and the SAS TCP/IP interface fails, the following misleading error might appear in your SAS log:
ERROR: The SAS System stopped processing this step because of insufficient memory.
However, insufficient memory is not the true cause of the program failure.
Possible causes of the SAS TCP/IP interface failure include incorrect IBM TCP/IP configuration or incorrect SAS communication setup.
